Elevation
We pull elevation from the USGS Elevation Point Query Service, querying the centroid latitude and longitude for each ZIP/ZCTA. Values are reported in feet above mean sea level. Negative values are valid for ZIP codes covering below-sea-level terrain such as Death Valley, the Imperial Valley, and parts of New Orleans. The dataset is refreshed manually on a periodic basis. Most recent refresh: 2026-05-19. Source: USGS National Elevation Dataset, public-domain U.S. federal data.
How to Read a ZIP Code Page
- Locate the city, county, and state. Listed directly under the H1.
- Read the demographic summary. Population, median household income, median home value at a glance.
- Check the mutually-exclusive race + ethnicity buckets in the Demographics section. White, Black, Asian, and Hispanic sum near 100 with the residual in Other.
- Cross-reference time zone and area code for telecom or scheduling work. Useful when planning calls or shipping windows.
- Use Nearby ZIPs to compare adjacent residential markets. Each nearby entry links to its own ZIP page with full detail.
